On September 8, Likada Farms was fortunate enough to kick off the fall alpaca season by selling 11 of our top females by partnering in the 4th Annual Eastern Extreme Auction.  This auction was held in Chester, WV, at the Mountaineer Gaming Resort.  It was a great weekend with nearly 400 alpaca breeders and buyers in attendance.  The excitement for the 62 lots of some of the finest huacaya alpacas in the US was outstanding!  Since Lot 1 was a scratch due to health reasons...our Lot #2 Accoyo Express' Silver Charm went on stage first.  She is a 6 month old silver grey full Peruvian/half Accoyo female and sold for $24,000!  What a great start to the auction!  Likada's breeding program specializes in high quality greys, blacks, full Accoyos and Accoyo crosses with color...and our 9 lots entered represented a chance to buy a part of our decade long breeding philosophy and the results we have achieved.  There were several Color Champions and Ribbon winners offered, and three with female cria at side!  All were bred or came with breedings to our outstanding herdsire stable...to continue the tradition of excellence at Likada Farm Alpacas on the new buyer's farm!  All in all, we were rewarded with an average price over the eight lots that sold of $28,350 EACH, and sold the high selling lot (Lot #41, Silent Night and her cria, co-owned with Legacy Criations) who sold for a well deserved $46,000.  We also sold Michelangelo's Accoyo Myda, a weanling female that went out to Oregon for a well deserved $36,000...she was the highest selling full Accoyo in the auction, even though she was the youngest!

Our special thanks go out to the consignors who made this such a special event...and to our partners Debbie and Todd Hirt of West Penn Alpacas, Jim and Helen Humphreys of Silver Cloud Alpacas, and Steve and Robyn LaSilvia of North Penn Alpacas.  Their tireless work leading up to the event and during the weekend pulled off a magnificent weekend!  Thanks to all, and we look forward to seeing you next year at the Mountaineer Resort on September 12, 2008 at the Eastern Extreme Progeny Auction, a completely revamped format that will represent offspring of the top herdsires being used in the United States today!  Don't miss this chance to see and acquire offpsring direclty representing their sires, sires that can make an impact on your program immediately!
